Oaklawn Church of God is a
non-denominational congregation of Christ-followers, in voluntary association
with the Church of God, with general offices in Anderson, IN. Our mission
is to make more and healthy disciples of Jesus the Christ through community
relationships in which training, teaching, encouragement, and accountability
take place. Our vision is to be a community of connectivity and creativity,
which provides spiritual direction, and meets the physical needs, for families
in the Hot Springs area.
Beliefs:
* We believe the Scripture of the Old and
New Testament of the Holy Bible is inspired by God and inerrant in the original
writings, and that it is of supreme and final authority.
* We believe in one God, eternally
existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Spirit; the Trinity.
* We believe that Jesus (Yeshua) is the
Messiah (the Christ), begotten of God, conceived of the Holy Spirit, and born
of the virgin, Mary. We believe Jesus was crucified, as the blood-payment
for all sin, and was resurrected by the power of God after his death. We
believe in His personal, visible, and imminent return.
* We believe in the Holy Spirit of God,
who gives spiritual gifts to every believer, and draws every non-believer to
Himself. He empowers the preaching and teaching of Scripture.
* We believe Satan is a very real adversary
of mankind. Satan is still working in the world to destroy the souls of
men and women, and all who do not accept the blood-sacrifice of Jesus the
Christ as payment for their sins, will eternally perish in a very real place
referred to in Scripture as "the Lake of Fire."
* We believe salvation is the gift of God,
offered to mankind by grace and received by personal faith in Jesus the Christ,
whose blood was spilled on the cross for the forgiveness of our sin. All
who receive Jesus as the Savior are "born again" by the Holy Spirit
and become children of God, with the inheritance of eternal life.
* We believe in the bodily
resurrection of all humankind, the everlasting conscious punishment of the
unreconciled in Hell, and the everlasting blessedness of the reconciled in
Heaven.
* We believe the Church is the Body of
Christ, whose mission is to preach the Good News of Jesus the Christ to all the
world.
* We believe in, and practice, the ordinances
of the church, given by Jesus: baptism (by immersion following conversion),
communion (the Lord's Supper), and Feetwashing (as a symbol of
servanthood).
